Abstract

This IDC Perspective looks at 10 open source software project areas that are likely to impact the industry. Among other topics, this list of projects includes coverage of open source software projects related to GitOps, analytics, development and DevOps, Kubernetes (again), machine learning, multiple forms of visualization, and so forth.

"After three years of covering five project areas to watch, because of the wealth of open source software projects that are changing the way software is created and used in the industry, IDC expanded this document to include 10 projects," said Al Gillen, group vice president, Software Development and Open Source at IDC. "There are an enormous number of interesting projects to consider in this yearly document. Most of the projects highlighted in previous documents have gone on to help grow and shape the industry, and this year's batch has the potential to do the same."
