Abstract

This IDC Perspective discusses how cloud-based AI platforms and AI agents are transforming the life science and healthcare industries. It highlights the importance of embedding trust at every step of the process of AI implementation. It provides advice to technology buyers from these industries to help them make strategic decisions on their AI strategies.

'The future is about AI agents embedded in cloud-based AI platforms — the "agentification" of AI is happening as we speak. Never before has the life science industry been so ready set to invest in AI and to adopt these newer operating models. Building trust will be crucial to scale adoption in this highly regulated and 'patient centric' industry," said Dr. Nimita Limaye, research VP, Life Sciences R&D Strategy and Technology at IDC.

"Using AI and GenAI effectively across an organization requires whole-organization collaboration, the likes of which many orgs have never had to undertake before. Effective deployment requires transparency in how AI is being considered or used across lines of business and departments and engagement from employees at all levels. Companies like Salesforce that are working to put an accessible AI experience in front of customers understand that it takes all hands inside the company to create this inclusive experience for customers," said Dr. Grace Trinidad, research director, Trust Measurement and Metrics at IDC.
