"Many enterprises are looking at trying to figure out a way to lessen the opex impact of SaaS purchases, while looking at capitalizing some up-front expenses of SaaS might be available, there is a cost to the finance department in resources to do the manual work required for it, and it might not change the financial statements enough to justify the labor required to comply with the financial standards," says Heather Herbst, research director, Worldwide Office of the CFO, IDC.
