"Applications that can optimize the physical care environment are as important as those documenting care delivery and billing for it. If a hospital bed goes down, care goes down. Yet healthcare provider IT initiatives focus mostly on clinical and operational IT workflows that do not give much attention to the physical environment and its respective assets," says Mutaz Shegewi, research director, Worldwide Provider IT Transformation Strategies at IDC.
