Abstract

This IDC Market Share study presents a vendor share analysis on the Japan analytics and AI platform market in 2022. The market is growing continuously as software usage is expanded by both customer segments: pioneering companies that leverage data analysis and advanced insights using AI as the basis for all their digital business activities, and latecomers to AI initiatives. As a result, the size of this market grew 26.8% over that of the previous year.

While the influence of the top vendors in the Japan market is growing, the commercialization of generative AI (GenAI) product services, which had been steadily advancing in the technology, is now moving ahead at a rapid pace. Although customers' expectations and needs are high, IT suppliers are facing difficulties in managing as they must tackle long-term legal and ethical issues related to technology resource shortages, security, and AI. "IT suppliers themselves need to develop a corporate culture that allows them to conduct repeated proof of concepts (POCs) of new technologies. The results of these POCs should be added as new offerings, and the project should be a spiral project based on customer offerings and their feedback," says Nobuko Iisaka, research manager, Software and Services, IDC Japan.
