Abstract

This IDC Web Conference Proceeding defines the concept of "digital for good" and explores how digital technologies can be used to drive positive social outcomes. While environmental concerns have dominated environmental, social, and governance (ESG) discussions so far, there is growing recognition of the importance of social and governance aspects. This change is partly attributed to the pervasive influence of artificial intelligence, emerging regulations, and societal fragility, which underscores the need to address issues such as diversity and labor practices. This approach aligns with the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals, ranging from reducing inequalities to promoting good health and well-being. In this webcast, IDC's EMEA research team provides an overview of use cases, impact measurement, and the strategies that tech vendors and end users can adopt to align their operations with broader societal goals. Adapting to these developments is not just a matter of corporate responsibility but a strategic imperative to enhance brand reputation, attract talent, and gain competitive advantage.
