Abstract
This IDC Survey Spotlight examines how European organizations approach security in public cloud versus on-premises. This is pertinent given the growth of public cloud by European organizations, particularly during and after the pandemic.
IDC research shows that many large organizations believe they have the capability to build and secure their own infrastructure, therefore they prefer on-premises. Many small organizations have the opposite perspective — they believe public cloud offers them security capabilities that are more efficient and effective than on-premises, and they prefer public cloud.
Satisfying both customer bases will require public cloud providers to clearly differentiate their offerings, and doing this successfully will involve increasingly close partnerships with security vendors and service providers.
