Abstract
This IDC Survey Spotlight provides a perspective on how IT buyers are evaluating function accelerators for their infrastructure in the next 12–24 months. With Broadcom (VMware) now providing native supporting several DPUs in vSphere cost notwithstanding, IT buyers must make a choice as to how they plan to implement an operator-specific control plane for their infrastructure. This would mimic an infrastructure approach taken by many leading cloud and digital service providers. These insights were provided by respondents to a worldwide web-based survey on enterprise infrastructure as part of IDC's 3Q23 Enterprise Infrastructure Pulse Survey fielded in November 2023.
