Abstract

This IDC Survey analyzes the purchasing roles of C-suite executives and line-of-business heads in firms buying external professional services to assist with digital transformation. For 21 areas of the business, this document breaks down who are the top 2 decision-makers for each purchasing role at the client organization. Respondents were given the definitions of:

  • Digital transformation as enterprisewide change requiring innovation in either organizational (i.e., people) or business model/process changes, or both, as a part of implementing cloud services, business analytics, enterprise mobility, and/or social technologies.
  • Digital business is operating a viable digital business, including increasing revenue generated by digital products, services, and/or experiences.

The worldwide sample size of 755 respondents included participants from 18+ countries across the Americas, Asia/Pacific, and EMEA. Key findings were that cybersecurity is the most often cited area for digital transformation, followed by applications/software (SW), customer service/customer support, and creative/design.
