Abstract

This IDC Survey provides key findings from IDC's 2024 Future Enterprise Resiliency and Spending (FERS) Survey, Wave 5, which focuses on economic and IT spending issues and their implications for IT investment. This survey of 888 respondents in North America, Asia/Pacific, and Western Europe was conducted in May 2024 while IT leaders were fully engaged in GenAI and IT modernization plans.

In mid-2024, IT leaders continue to report a noticeable lessening of concerns about economic disruptions restricting technology investment plans, but they are also becoming more concerned about AI costs, accessibility, and effectiveness. In May 2024, IDC connected with IT leaders around the world to gain an insight into how they continue to navigate industry disruptions and prioritize technology investments, with a focus on how they are addressing the need for AI model and data sources, the use of digital application platforms, and the influence of GenAI on industry ecosystem collaboration.
