Abstract

This IDC Perspective summarizes the discussion shared by IDC's Global CIO Advisory Board members on the impact of generative AI (GenAI) technology on IT and digital skills. Data from numerous IDC surveys and insights were shared by Amy Loomis, research vice president at IDC, and Gina Smith, research director at IDC. Following their presentation, we heard from our guest speaker, Paul Krebs, CIO for Koch Industries, on his talent strategy for the IT organization at Koch.

"As AI and GenAI become embedded in the fabric of our work lives, organizations will need to promote new skills development across IT, business, human engagement, and leadership," said Amy Loomis, research vice president, IDC's Future of Work. "The litmus test for resilient organizations will be how effectively they can identify and address skills gaps as part of a culture of continuous learning that extends from new hires to seasoned C-suite leaders."
