Abstract
This IDC Survey Spotlight focuses on the importance of digital technology and its impact on manufacturing organizations. While over 92% of organizations cited digital technology as playing a central or significant support role in the organization over the past two years, there are still many barriers to entry. Challenges range from budget limitations and lack of talent to insufficient IT automation in the current environment. By understanding the challenges and gaps within their organization, leaders can focus on and invest in programs and areas that can accelerate their technology investment goals to further digital transformation.
This IDC Survey Spotlight is based upon results from IDC's July 2023 Future of Operations Survey and Future Enterprise Resiliency and Spending Survey, Wave 7, which surveyed over 850 organizations worldwide. For this survey, operations referred to the activities responsible for the safe, reliable, and efficient execution of physical processes central to an organization's business.
