Abstract
This IDC Survey Spotlight examines how AI, GenAI, and machine learning have accelerated to stardom as must-have tools in the enterprise over the past year (although not completely new). IDC's Future of Industry Ecosystems data is now showing an increased focus on these tools in support of ecosystem partner engagement and decision making, as well as better understanding of what the end customer wants. While the usage of AI currently is not as extensive across ecosystems as within the enterprise, the trend is moving toward AI-enhanced ecosystems.
Having access to on-demand capital (financial, asset, operational, people) is a top 2 use case within IDC's July 2023 Future of Industry Ecosystems Global Survey. AI and GenAI will serve to augment and complement the many elements of capital that exist across a diverse ecosystem of participants. Determining which partners an organization should work with per initiative, identifying data sharing (and monetization) opportunities, and simply complementing decision making during partner collaboration are just a few opportunities where AI will apply.
