Abstract

This IDC Survey uses data from IDC's Future Enterprise Resiliency and Spending (FERS) Survey, collected in May 2023. It examines how digital-native businesses (DNBs) make use of digital platforms and compares these results against non–digital native businesses. In particular, it looks at the awareness and adoption rate of digital platforms; the level of adoption and awareness companywide; the organizational functions they are used for; and planned functional areas. The top factors driving adoption, the benefits DNBs expect to achieve, purchase criteria, and barriers to adopt are analyzed as well.

Digital-native business respondents in IDC's FERS Survey are companies with 500+ employees. The FERS Survey uses four levels of digitization among organizations (summarized): 1 — We are not a digital business at all, 2 — We are somewhat a digital business, 3 — We are mostly a digital business, and 4 — We are a digital-native business. This IDC Survey compares levels 1, 2, and 3 against level 4 (DNBs).
