Abstract

This IDC Survey Spotlight discusses how 3D printing expands across use cases. While the drama among some of the top names in the 3D printing business gets a lot of attention, the end users continue to plan to expand their use of 3D printing technology according to a survey from IDC. In a Product and Service Innovation Survey issued by IDC in June of 2023, users reported strong growth expectations for adoption and utilization of 3D printing technologies. IDC believes these expectations and plans will only increase as more design tools such as topology optimization and generative design are used, which free designers from the limits of industrial production. These trends are good signals for manufacturers of industrial inkjet printhead technology, which will be an important enabler of manufacturing-level speed, accuracy, and cost.
