Abstract

This IDC Survey summarizes selected results from IDC's Future of Digital Infrastructure Worldwide Sentiment Survey, conducted in May and June 2023. Data from this survey is published in multiple documents. This document provides insights as to worldwide digital infrastructure buyer perspectives related to ecosystems and vendor selection criteria. For the majority of customers, digital infrastructure resources typically include an interconnected mix of datacenter, edge, and public cloud IT infrastructure assets and services.

The 876 survey participants represent a global cross-section of industries and geographies. They are senior IT and line-of-business decision makers tasked with shaping strategic technology, architecture, operating model, and vendor choices for their organizations' compute, storage, and networking investments and management approaches. Data on other dimensions of the survey will be discussed in forthcoming documents.

"On a worldwide basis, C-level technology leaders recognize the value that ecosystems contribute to gaining business value from digital infrastructure investments," explains Mary Johnston Turner, research vice president, Future of Digital Infrastructure — Agenda at IDC. " In fact, IDC's survey shows that 69% of organizations agree that a vendor's ecosystem of ISVs and managed services partners is one of the vendor's most important digital infrastructure and cloud services selection criteria."
