Abstract

This IDC Market Note highlights some of the announcements made during the HPE Discover 2023 held June 20–23, 2023, in Las Vegas. As the aforementioned announcements and partnerships are clearly aligned to tap the significantly large untapped performance-intensive computing market segments such as AI cloud market, HPC cloud market, and the generative AI market, it is imperative to note that the market already offers significant rivalry from the existing players. The early mover advantage that public cloud service providers have with similar instances offering is worth noting, with HPE not being an early entrant into this space.

However, HPE's supercomputing leadership position that is being leveraged here is a strong plus for the company. Appropriate positioning of the offering — HPE GreenLake for LLMs to organizations that may want a dedicated cloud and a unified platform may work in HPE's favor. The service envisions to be beneficial to traditional on-premises HPC users with a mission-critical need for temporary access to Exascale capabilities and the first-time users of supercomputing who are already investing in HPC or AI to stay ahead. Note that the HPE GreenLake for LLMs services will be available by the end of 2023.
