Abstract

This IDC Tech Buyer Presentation highlights IDC's tracker data showing Wi-Fi 6Es uptake and provides guidance on 6GHz Wi-Fi use cases, as well as advice for technology buyers on how — and when — to implement Wi-Fi 6E. Wi-Fi is one of the most important technologies for enterprises as they map their future of connectedness strategy. The latest iteration of Wi-Fi named Wi-Fi 6E is a generational advancement for the technology as it enables Wi-Fi to use the 6GHz band, whereas previous generations only supported 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands. This significant new spectrum for Wi-Fi opens a range of possibilities for enterprises, networking vendors, and service providers to take advantage of new connectivity use cases.

"Wi-Fi 6E is a generational enhancement for this important enterprise networking technology. Opening up Wi-Fi to use the 6GHz band will enable a range of new use cases and support the future of Wi-Fi for years to come," says Brandon Butler, research manager, Enterprise Networks at IDC.
