This IDC study contains market shares of shipments and revenue for the North American wide format digital printer market for the years 2020, 2021, and 2022.
"As we have gone through this digital transformation journey, we have seen the same scenario play out technology by technology," said Tim Greene, research director, Hardcopy Solutions, IDC. "At first, a technology such as aqueous inkjet or eco-solvent inkjet comes along and kind of 'democratizes' production, allowing lots of small shops to take on production. Over time, shops that invest in higher-end technology consolidate a lot of that production, necessitating small shops to diversify their business. Now the focus for all technologies is about cost-effective production, high quality, and automation."
