Abstract

This IDC Survey Spotlight analyzes the differences in IT and LOB responses regarding top drivers that technology buyers listed for recent (within the past three years) investments in new search and knowledge discovery technologies. Search and knowledge discovery systems are software that can find, locate, and provide answers and knowledge to workers, customers, and citizens. This includes both traditional search and information retrieval/access systems and a new generation that uses technologies like artificial intelligence, machine learning/deep learning, NLP, and semantic search to facilitate knowledge or product discovery across various structured and unstructured forms of data. This IDC Survey Spotlight is based on data from IDC's 2023 Knowledge Discovery Survey, conducted in February 2023. This question surveyed 231 respondents from a variety of industries across the United States.
