Abstract

This IDC study examines the market for facility management applications. Sustainability initiatives, reduced occupancy rates, increasing workplace experience requirements, and changing portfolio management strategies are all driving market growth.

"With the global COVID-19 pandemic receding and some employees returning to the office while many remain working from home, facility managers are being challenged on several fronts, including scheduling service calls, managing leases, and maximizing their use of space in this new work environment. At the same time, the way facility technicians accomplish their work is changing, and they now have a range of remote monitoring and diagnostic tools to quickly spot emerging issues and prescribe timely maintenance," says Brian O'Rourke, research manager, Enterprise Asset Management and Smart Facilities at IDC. "Facility maintenance organizations must effectively collect and analyze ever-increasing amounts of data to ensure efficient facilities maintenance at the right cost with the right tools in a sustainable manner while facing an uncertain economic environment."
