Abstract

This IDC Survey highlights selected results from IDC's worldwide Future Enterprise Resiliency and Spending Survey, Wave 10, conducted in October/November 2022. IDC asked 824 IT and LOB decision makers in North America, Asia/Pacific, and Europe to indicate how concerns about inflation, recession, skills shortages, and other developments are affecting investment plans in major technology sectors and included additional questions specifically about digital infrastructure strategic priorities as these organizations enter 2023.

Key findings include:

  • Customer expectations for expanded vendor and ecosystem support roles
  • Impact of ecosystems on digital infrastructure purchasing plans
  • Plans for multisourcing and open source strategies to reduce supply chain risks
  • Impact of vendor and cloud provider marketplaces and integration agreements on customer purchasing and contract consolidation efforts

Globally, over 65% of organizations want vendors and service providers to take more responsibility for day-to-day operations so internal IT staff can focus more closely on enabling critical business priorities. Customers will be proactively engaging with vendors and cloud providers in 2023 to build strategic relationship and reduce operational and supply chain risks.
