Abstract

This IDC Survey includes data from IDC's Future Enterprise Resiliency and Spending Survey, Wave 3, conducted in March 2024. In that global survey, 887 senior IT and line-of-business leaders across North America, Western Europe, and Asia/Pacific addressed challenges relating to sourcing talent and upskilling employees for the AI age.

"With the rapid adoption of AI technologies and the coming shifts in job roles, organizations need fresh new ways to source talented employees and keep them up to speed," says Gina Smith, research director for IDC's IT Skills for Digital Business research practice.

"Traditionally, companies sought new talent to fill specific skill requirements as they came up," adds Alicia Mokwa, research director for IDC's Talent Acquisition and Strategy practice. "Not anymore. Now, organizations must focus on broader skill sets that take into account new AI and GenAI capabilities."
