Abstract
This IDC study provides a review of the 2022 U.S. laser A3/A4 multifunction peripheral (MFP) market and vendor shares. Shipments, value of shipments, and ASVs in this study match data reported in IDC's 4Q22 Worldwide Quarterly Hardcopy Peripherals Tracker.
"In the face of an ongoing supply chain crisis in 2022, vendors continued to favor higher-margined A3 devices when allocating limited production capacity. As a result, for the second consecutive year, the more expensive A3 devices geared toward the office gained market share from the less expensive, entry-level A4 laser MFPs that were so popular among home-based workers during the COVID-19 pandemic," says Geoffrey Wilbur, research manager, Imaging, Printing, and Document Solutions group at IDC. "By the second half of 2023, however, as supply chains recover, we expect A4 MFPs to resume their pattern of steady market share gains."
