Abstract

This IDC PeerScape presents the practices for choosing the right DRaaS solution and how to get the most out of it. It will examine the importance of doing the up-front work before deciding, determining the level of control you require over resources and management, best practices for developing runbooks, and knowing when it might be time to switch things up.

"Prior to DRaaS, fewer than 40% of organizations even had disaster recovery plans, either because they were very expensive or complicated. Failover was complex, and things got out of sync very quickly. That meant that sometimes, they decided to take their chances," says Phil Goodwin, research vice president in IDC's Infrastructure Systems, Platforms, and Technologies Group. "But with the popularity of cloud, it's easy enough to contract with on-demand resources. There is no need to leave things to chance."
