Abstract
This IDC Survey highlights selected results from IDC's March 2023 Future Enterprise Resiliency and Spending Survey, Wave 12. IDC asked 952 IT and LOB decision makers with 500+ employees to provide feedback on how concerns related to inflation and recession threats are impacting 2023 IT budgets. Participants were distributed across North America, Asia/Pacific, and Western Europe.
Key findings related to digital infrastructure include:
- Entering 2023, the majority of organizations worldwide expect IT spending to remain steady or increase during the year, despite concerns about inflation and potential recession.
- Perspectives on alignment of public cloud IaaS compute and storage spending with business needs vary by region. A significant majority of North American organizations say spending is appropriate, while less than a fifth of AP decision makers agree spend is in line.
- Across all IT categories, digital infrastructure categories demonstrate some of the highest overall levels of IT spending commitment and resiliency for 2023, despite potential headwinds.
IDC believes the resilience of digital infrastructure spending intentions reflects the strategic importance of infrastructure in ensuring mission-critical data access and business process operations across today's digital business environments. Digital infrastructure providers are most frequently cited in the survey as being the most strategic technology providers. Public cloud providers lead the way across all strategic technology provider categories.
