Abstract

IDC Innovators are emerging vendors with revenue <$100 million that have demonstrated either a groundbreaking business model or an innovative new technology — or both. This IDC Innovators study identifies three companies with products and solutions that can assist companies with productivity, security, and health and fitness: Kinetic, Oura Health, and Nymi.

"Wearables have had a small presence within the enterprise, yet they continue to gain salience, especially as companies revisit and revise their return-to-work plans," says Ramon T. Llamas, research director, IDC's Wearables team. "Kinetic's Reflex device monitors workers' movement as they lift and move heavy objects like a warehouse, detecting high-risk motions. It also serves as a social distancing device to enforce company rules. Oura Health gained popularity last year during the pandemic to flag variations from a wearer's biometric baseline and possibilities of becoming sick or having to stay at home. Nymi's relentless focus on security with fingerprint verification and ECG confirmation allows workers to access applications and assets while maintaining social distancing. The end result is that wearables keep business running and employees safe."
