Abstract
This IDC Survey document examines the importance of sustainability and environmental, social, and governance issues to CIOs in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). It looks at the factors driving organizations in the country to pursue sustainability agendas and the business domains across which sustainability initiatives are being undertaken. It further elaborates on the business benefits organizations are expecting to achieve from their sustainability strategies and presents the challenges they experience in their sustainability journeys.
The presentation also assesses the significance of sustainability initiatives within CIOs' IT strategies and outlines the technology initiative types being planned and executed to achieve sustainability goals, as well as examining the innovative technologies that CIOs regard as important for achieving sustainability objectives, the budgets allocated for such initiatives, and the technology companies preferred for their implementation.
The data presented and analyzed derives from the UAE portion of IDC's Sustainability Survey, 2023, conducted across the Middle East, Türkiye, and Africa in January of this year. The UAE sample comprised 35 decision makers from organizations with 250+ employees.
