Abstract


This IDC Survey Spotlight examines consumer shopping habits for luxury goods, highlighting key online and offline channels used in the past 12 months including physical stores, mobile apps, marketplaces, and ecommerce platforms. It provides a snapshot of shopping behavior across different age groups, revealing generational differences. Based on the results of IDC's Consumer Sentiment Survey, 2024, the document also investigates why digital channels have not yet reached their full adoption and potential for luxury shopping. Finally, it outlines the key technologies needed to enhance the luxury shopping experience, thereby increasing confidence and trust in online purchasing while maximizing sales conversion.
