Abstract
This IDC Survey Spotlight examines the sentiment of European CISOs regarding the use of AI/ML-augmented security solutions. The findings show that the top 2 areas of augmentation interest for CISOs are improved threat detection and response and improved security information and event management (SIEM) effectiveness.
This is consistent with findings from other IDC surveys and research input, which suggests that CISOs are grappling with a persistent security skills shortage. This shortage is worsened by the nature of security operations and SOC activities, which can often be tedious and repetitive. AI/ML-augmented solutions offer the prospect of reducing this fatigue and enabling SOC analysts to move toward higher value-add activities — in essence, transforming from a beat cop to a detective.
