Abstract
This IDC Survey Spotlight leverages data from the IDC EMEA Cloud Survey, 2023, to explore European governments' preferred approach for the workloads or applications that they plan to modernize or migrate to cloud. Governments across Europe are prioritizing the adoption of cloud for their digital projects. However, they diverge when it comes to their approaches, whether regulating the cloud market or adopting digital sovereignty. The analysis is based on the survey of 120 interviews with government executives from 17 European countries as part of the IDC EMEA Cloud Survey.
"Regulatory compliance and the need to better leverage data for decision making has nudged governments to prioritize migrating their data storage and analytics workloads and applications. Government-specific or proprietary applications come next in the modernization road map," said Rimal Likhari, research manager, IDC Government Insights.
