Abstract

This IDC Market Note looks at recent developments and use cases for Oracle's Graph Database, which is offered free if you are an Oracle Database customer. Based on its road map, Oracle claims it will become the first vendor to commercially support SQL/PGQ, which will mean analysts can use the same language to query relational data, graph data, JSON data, tables and other data types.

"With companies constantly on the lookout for ways to speed up their analytics without breaking the bank, graph databases offer tantalizing advantages over relational databases," said Jason Stamper, research manager, IDC Europe. "For some companies, Oracle's graph database — a free option for its relational database — will be an attractive proposition, especially as it will soon harmonize querying across both graph and relational data."
