Abstract
This IDC Perspective considers the landscape for telco converged charging systems (CCS) in EMEA. As telcos progress their 5G investments, CCS become foundational to monetizing new services such as network slicing and rationalizing the number of charging systems telcos operate in their networks. The flexibility CCS brings should enable telcos to accelerate their experimentation with 5G monetization models, and thus reduce the time required to make a return on their substantial 5G investments.
"You cannot monetize what you cannot charge for, and it is hard to charge for something when you do not know its value to the customer. Converged charging systems are a critical piece of the monetization puzzle required for EMEA telcos to innovate and monetize new value streams from 5G, such as network slicing.
