Abstract

This IDC Survey report draws data from the European section of IDC's Global 2023 Future of Work Survey, focusing on the connection between automation efforts and internal skills development as perceived by decision makers in 490 European companies.

"The need for digital transformation is exacerbating the digital skills gap in Europe. Automating tedious, repetitive tasks frees up capacity for reskilling and upskilling of existing employees," said Meike Escherich, associate research director, Future of Work Europe at IDC. "When making the business case for more automation, tech buyers must align their automation road maps with internal skills development plans, leading to new opportunities for the services part of technology providers."
