Abstract

This IDC Survey investigates the latest trends in the EMEA biometrics market. The report analyzes general adoption trends in the region, focusing on company sizes, sectors, and use cases. The study dives into key biometrics use cases across finance, services, infrastructure, manufacturing, distribution, and public sector. The survey reveals the adoption rate of biometrics as an augmentation technology that replaces traditional methods of managing and monitoring employee time and attendance management, grants employees facility and data access, and enables customer verification and authentication. The study is based on IDC's EMEA Emerging Technologies Survey, August 2022, carried out among 864 organizations in EMEA.

"As companies are looking at automation to maintain their operational efficiency at a time of strong headwinds across the market, biometrics will enable automation for internal processes such as employee access and external purposes such as voice-, facial-, and fingerprint-enabled customer identification," said Andrea Minonne, research manager and lead of the European human augmentation research, IDC U.K. "For this reason, 61% of EMEA businesses will be investing in biometrics in the next two years."
