Abstract

This IDC Survey summarizes key trends around content delivery network (CDN) and edge-based solutions based on IDC's 2022 European Enterprise Communications Survey and IDC's 2022 European Enterprise Infrastructure Survey. The presentation analyzes market trends and indicates potential growth areas within countries, industries, and business size segments.

IDC's European Enterprise Communications Survey is an annual survey and a must-have for network and services vendors. It provides real-time insight into the priorities and strategic intentions of network executives, offering guidance for vendors' strategy planning and market positioning. The survey covers a range of topics including WAN, hybrid networks, network infrastructure, software-defined networks (SDNs), cloud, content delivery networks, unified communication, video, contact centers, data and voice services, network life-cycle services, provider selection criteria and preferences, and trends in the telecommunications sector.

Results are provided for nine Western European countries (Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and the U.K.), six verticals (finance, manufacturing, the public sector, retail/wholesale, business services, and transport), and six business size segments (50–99 employees; 100–249 employees; 250–499 employees; 500–999 employees; 1,000–4,999 employees; and 5,000 or more employees)

IDC's 2022 European Enterprise Infrastructure Survey is also an annual survey, analyzing how European enterprises approach selecting, buying, and running their IT infrastructure — mainly across on-premises and co-location environments, but also how this relates to their use of public cloud and edge services. The results are based on 928 responses from CIOs, IT leaders, and IT management across seven Western European and three Central & Eastern European countries.
