Abstract

This IDC Market Presentation provides insights into the current state of digital infrastructure governance models and vendor ecosystems. Most Canadian organizations think their existing internal digital infrastructure management staff, skills, processes, and tools are prepared to support their future business needs. Yet most also believe that the present levels of digital infrastructure expenditure are out of step with business needs. As the reliance on vendors and partners grows, so does the value of vendors' ecosystems and consumption-based offerings.

The findings are based on IDC's Future of Digital Infrastructure Worldwide Sentiment Survey conducted in May and June 2023. The survey polled 138 senior Canadian IT and line-of-business decision makers (among 876 survey participants worldwide) on the current state of their digital infrastructure environments; the evolution of digital infrastructure operating models for governance, financial management, sourcing, and ecosystem strategies; and the role of digital infrastructure investments and operating models in achieving top-priority business goals.
