Abstract

This IDC Market Presentation details the state of the security market in India and provides a snapshot of cybersecurity market trends, cyber-risks pertaining to India, and how enterprises can evolve and be cyber-resilient amid the dynamic and increasing threat landscape. It also reveals some insights that can provide guidance to business leaders on specific technologies such as threat intelligence, secure access service edge (SASE), the convergence of operational technology and information technology, identity and access management (IAM), and achieving trust in a threat-prone ecosystem. It discusses the challenges end users face with their currently deployed threat intelligence solution, IAM, or SASE, as well as key reasons and benefits for adopting a software solution (threat intelligence, SASE, IAM, PAM, etc.). It also examines which industry has the highest adoption rate of software solutions (e.g., EDR/XDR, IAM, etc.) and the greatest concerns for OT and IT convergence.

According to the findings from this report, almost 67% of India enterprises stated that they are looking to outsource key areas of their security landscape to managed security service providers (MSSPs) in the next three years. However, it is also observed that in India, there is an increasing trend toward consolidating the number of MSSPs the enterprises are partnering with, going forward.

"While traversing toward investing in digital transformation initiatives and running a viable digital business, enterprises in India must also look at outsourcing key functions such as threat detection, security operations, and risk mitigation to external security service providers as part of their enterprise strategy and to improve operational efficiencies and the bottom line. Many enterprises opt for security service providers that can offer global capabilities in a local delivery model and can help them unify their vendor ecosystem by offering a plethora of services under one umbrella," says Sakshi Grover, research manager, Future of Trust, IDC India and Asia/Pacific.

The cybersecurity landscape in India is rapidly evolving due to technological innovations and digitalization across sectors. Despite significant strides in digital transformation, the nation faces a range of cybersecurity threats. Malicious attacks are increasing, with intruders using sophisticated methods to infiltrate organizations, steal data, or demand ransom. Furthermore, the adoption of diverse devices, applications, and cloud services by organizations to enable flexible working models expands their attack surfaces. It is also worthwhile to note that in such a dynamic landscape, security providers are investing heavily in analyzing market sentiments and technology trends that can help them not only generate sales and marketing campaigns to position themselves as leaders in this space but also leverage the same for GTM initiatives. Keeping this in mind, this document also provides guidance for sales and marketing leaders on how they can navigate the dynamic Indian landscape. It also includes how some technology vendors are thinking "beyond the norms" and innovating, and doing brilliant work in the space of cybersecurity.
