Abstract


This IDC Perspective offers insights into generative AI code generators and how they are playing an important role in boosting developers' efficiency and productivity in Asia and the Pacific. It also provides a brief overview of popular vendors' AI code–generator products based on large language models. Generative AI could be used by businesses to drive innovation, automate operations, enhance decision making, improve efficiency and productivity, and personalize the consumer experience. According to the findings of IDC's 2023 Future Enterprise Resiliency and Spending Survey, Wave 2, 38.9% of firms in the region are doing some initial exploration of potential use cases of generative AI. With the emergence of AI and machine learning, AI code generators driven by language models have grown in popularity among developers hoping to simplify their workflow and increase productivity.
