Abstract

This IDC Survey Spotlight examines the activities that developers would like to spend more time on over the next 12 months, providing a window on the type of work they aspire to do, and that is likely to lead to increased happiness and productivity. Survey respondents chose from a list that included release and process management, debugging, coding, and software design and architecture. The key finding is that developers want to spend more time on higher-level creative tasks and avoid debugging and other repetitive tasks.

This IDC Survey Spotlight provides two slides: The first slide displays a chart of survey results for the nine survey options, while the second slide provides discussion, analysis, and implications for organizations.
