Abstract

This IDC Survey Spotlight provides a view of the transformation happening in the office of the CFO and the broadening of its influence and purview. This presentation reflects findings from IDC’s C-Suite Tech Survey of 126 respondents from the finance/strategy function in October 2024 and IDC’s Office of the CFO Survey of 512 CFOs conducted in August 2024 reported by 824 respondents.

“The office of the CFO has significant influence on technology spending decisions made in the organization, especially those related to the finance/strategy function,” says Heather Herbst, research director, Office of the CFO. “The CFO is also taking on responsibilities that are broader than finance. Enterprises are restructuring and consolidating nonfinance functions under the CTO to improve productivity and efficiencies.”
