Abstract

This IDC Survey analyzes interest in glasses in the United States. In spring 2024, IDC polled 1,068 consumers on their thoughts about this emerging technology. Specifically, we inquired about their general interest, how glasses would fit into their lifestyle, and what features, powered by artificial intelligence, they would like to see on glasses.

"Glasses (those that do not offer augmented or virtual reality capabilities) have been gaining salience in the U.S. wearables market, focusing mostly on audio consumption but also competing with headphones and earbuds," says Ramon T. Llamas, research director with IDC's Wearables program. "As an emerging product, the full capabilities of glasses have yet to be explored, but feedback from this survey point to possible features and functionalities and which market segments will most likely warm to them."
