Abstract

This IDC Survey Spotlight answers the following question: What are the biggest technology challenges in supporting your flexible workers?

According to 887 IT decision-makers worldwide, the biggest challenges supporting remote work continue to be security, IT support, and parity of experience across remote and onsite locations. Secure access service edge (SASE) is emerging to address hybrid work needs, but its complex, monolithic nature can slow adoption. Vendors are moving toward simplifying SASE deployment and management, with consolidated policy creation and AI assistance to streamline processes.

Interestingly, "internet connectivity issues" and "technology consistency to employees across remote and onsite locations" also make the list of supporting remote work challenges. Digital experience monitoring is gaining importance in SASE solutions for distinguishing between security and nonsecurity issues, thus enhancing productivity.
