Abstract

This IDC Survey uses data from IDC's annual worldwide Future of Work Survey, 2024. This IDC Survey highlights responses from 1,269 professionals across North America, EMEA, and APAC regions. It covers over 18 industries and respondents from distinct roles including HR, IT, and LOB functions.

This research demonstrates how frontline workers can be a potent group to address the skill gap challenges faced by organizations. It further explores the challenges in engaging frontline workers and the technology investments companies are making to productively enable and engage this workforce.

"Organizations are investing in automation, collaboration, and communication technologies to ensure frontline workers stay productive and they feel valued," said Abhinav Shrivastava, senior research analyst, Future of Work at IDC. "While GenAI solutions are proving invaluable for frontline worker engagement across companies of all sizes, larger companies with over 10,000 employees are particularly prioritizing investments in integrated workspace solutions to provide frontline workers with a unified operating environment."
