Abstract

This IDC Survey Spotlight provides insight into the risk associated with the application and API attack vector, including types of damages and costs, and segmented by organizations with few, many, or very many applications. Overall, the value of web applications and APIs only continues to increase, and businesses must utilize active application security technologies to protect their investments. Organizations invest in web applications for a wide variety of reasons. These applications and related APIs have a direct influence on the business, providing interactivity for customers, contributors, workers, partners, and other end users. In IDC's March 2024 Web Application and Availability Protection Buyer Insights Survey (n = 1,039), IDC asked IT buyers "what types of damages are possible from threats targeting web applications and APIs, and what are the related costs?"
