Abstract

This IDC Market Presentation examines the Digital Business Scorecard analysis for companies that self-identified as digital-native businesses, focusing on their capabilities in digital business models and data. Digital-native businesses are born of digital technology and focused primarily on generating digital products and services. This has led them to typically being much more capable as digital businesses than their traditional counterparts. The Digital Business Scorecard highlights this, showing how organizations identifying themselves as digital-native businesses are more likely to be leading in digital businesses modeling and data strategies.

However, digital-native businesses are not a monolith. Many have developed into mature organizations, but many are also still finding their footing as a start-up or scale up. We examine the areas where some digital-native businesses are still falling behind in digital business models and data capabilities and how technology suppliers can help those budding organizations realize their potential.
