Abstract

This IDC Survey details results from IDC's 2023 U.S. Smart Home Survey, which was fielded in August. The survey asked respondents questions regarding consumer adoption of and attitudes toward a variety of smart home devices and services, security and privacy concerns, and smart assistants. This IDC Survey focuses on aspects of the survey related to the use of networked entertainment devices in the home.

"Smart TVs are ubiquitous in homes, yet their internet-connected capabilities are still underutilized," said Adam Wright, senior research analyst, IDC's Smart Home and Office Devices program. "Consumers report high satisfaction with their smart TVs, but mainly because of traditional features like screen size and picture quality. A large majority of smart TV owners still connect a secondary streaming device to their TV because it is easier to use and provides better streaming experiences than their smart TV."
