Abstract

This IDC Survey details results from IDC's 2023 U.S. Smart Home Survey, which was fielded in August. The survey asked respondents questions regarding consumer adoption of and attitudes toward a variety of smart home devices and services, security and privacy concerns, and smart assistants. This IDC Survey focuses on aspects of the survey related to the use of smart assistants in the home.

"Utilization of smart assistants in the home has plateaued," said Adam Wright, senior research analyst, IDC's Smart Home and Office Devices program. "Daily engagement is down year over year, and the frequency of engagement each day is also less than last year. Yet, satisfaction with smart assistant–embedded devices, despite their limitations, is generally high across the board, and they continue to play an important role in generating spillover effects and driving demand for other smart home devices."
