Abstract
This IDC Presentation will delve into the foundry market development trends for 2024–2025.
"Market growth momentum in 2025 will primarily come from three aspects: First, continued strong AI application demand driving advanced nodes expansion and price increases; second, expected gradual recovery in consumer electronics, automotive, and industrial demand leading to higher utilization rates in mature nodes; third, increasing importance of advanced packaging technology, with significant expansion in CoWoS-L capacity. Overall, the foundry market is expected to grow by 19.8% in 2025,'" says Galen Zeng, senior research manager, IDC.
Looking ahead, TSMC continues to expand its leadership advantage, with capital expenditure set to increase further in 2025, focusing on capacity deployment in Taiwan, U.S., Japan, and advanced packaging. Meanwhile, Samsung and Intel are aggressively targeting the high-end chip market with their SF3 and 18A nodes respectively. Under the continued expansion of AI demand and geopolitical influences, the global foundry industry is expected to maintain strong growth momentum.
