Abstract
This IDC Tech Buyer Presentation looks at the top trends in IT/OT convergence that are explored to give technology providers and users insight into where technology initiatives in operations should focus their efforts. In 2023, IDC observed several key technological advancements and trends come to fruition despite numerous global uncertainties. Many foundational elements including technology partnerships, blueprints and road maps for operations technologies, and the advancement of data-driven operations capabilities are now in place. IDC predicts that in 2024, many of these trends and phenomena to mature meaningfully, yielding significant competitive advantages for the technology providers and users that capitalize on them.
"We've seen a delta in past survey work between technology leaders and laggards," says Jonathan Lang, research director for IDC's Worldwide IT/OT Convergence Strategies program. "In 2024, I think a number of technology trends are going to widen the gap for companies willing to pursue them."
